Paris will be swinging along to the sound of music next Thursday (21st June) when the Fête de la Musique takes place. Hundreds of amateur and professional musicians will perform impromptu gigs in train stations, parks, on street corners and in other public places. Big-name artists are also expected to perform at some of the larger venues such as the Place de la Republique and the Palais Royal. This annual event, which is completely free to the public, aims to enourage the expression of a range of musical styles - including jazz, classical, rock and pop – all within a carnival atmosphere.
